 MANILAmustwin, Philippines —  Four National Bureau of Investigation employees were arrested for allegedly conniving with seven fixers at the NBI clearance center on Monday.

According to NBI Director Jaime Santiago, the operation targeted people accused of facilitating the expedited processing of NBI clearance certificates in exchange for bribes of P800 to P2,000.

The operation was conducted by the NBI Cybercrime Division and Special Task Force.

Several senators and other quarters have been calling for a complete stop to POGO operations amid a growing list of criminal activities associated with the firms, among them financial fraud and other cyber scams. POGO operators and foreign employees have also been arrested for offenses including murder, torture, kidnapping for ransom and serious illegal detention, drug deals and human trafficking.

Three cameras operated by Phivolcs captured the event: a thermal camera at the Daang Kastila Observation Station, an IP camera at Buco, and the VTAG IP Camera at Agoncillo, Batangas.

The NBI employees, who are assigned at the bureau’s Information and Communications Technology Division, are facing charges of graft and direct bribery.

They were also charged for violating the Cybercrime Prevention Act.mustwin
